Many patients asked if they should do a detox.
First of all, things like a 7-day detox program, 5-day juice fasting, liver flush, etc, which are commonly sold as a magical way to remove all toxins and reset your system, are not sufficient to ensure you to be free from environmental toxins.
Due to how toxic our modern world is, implementing detoxification measures is not a question, it is mandatory. Adopting a non-toxic lifestyle for the rest of your life is paramount!
In fact, you should detox every day. With the amount of toxins that we are exposed to on a daily basis--between our environment and our food, pesticides, smog, radiation, plastics, heavy metals, mold, etc… Not to mention all the toxic household and beauty products... If you are not actively filtering and removing toxins on the daily basis you will become chronically ill… and doing a 5-day juice fasting 2-3 times a year is not going to save you.
Our bodies are designed to filter and remove toxins. The main detox organs are our liver, kidney, colon, skin, lungs & lymph. However, given our unhealthy diet, obesity, sedentary & stressful lifestyle, both recreational and pharmaceutical drug use, our bodies can’t keep up.
